Congress MP Pramod Tiwari gives Suspension of Business notice to discuss misuse of Govt. Agencies

New Delhi: Congress MP Pramod Tiwari has given Suspension of Business Notice under Rule 267 in Rajya Sabha to discuss “misuse of CBI, ED and other govt agencies against political rivals and others.”

Congress MP Manish Tewari has also given an adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha to discuss border situation with China, reported ANI.

Earlier, On Wednesday Opposition demanded discussion on the fresh clash between Indian and Chinese troops at the Tawang sector in Arunchal Pradesh along the Line of Actual Control. 17 Opposition parties staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha accusing the government of not holding discussion on the clash.

Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Aam Aadmi Party, MDMK, Communist Party of India (Marxist), CPI, Janata Dal-United, DMK, Trinamool Congress, and Telugu Desam Party were among the 17 parties that walked out from the House during ‘Zero Hour’, reported news agency ANI.

Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge among other Opposition leaders raised the issue to hold a detailed discussion on the clash when the House assembled for the day and Deputy Chairman Harivansh allowed ‘Zero Hour’ so that parliamentarians could raise their issues.

Responding to the question of not conducting census yet, the Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai replied that the intent of the government for conducting Census 2021 was notified in the Gazette of India on March 28, 2019. Due to outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the Census 2021 and the related field activities have been postponed until further orders. The date of freezing the boundaries of administrative units has been extended upto December 31, 2022, as per a report by ANI.
